The Cooley Farm Series: A Family Memoir in the Making
Harry Cooley was a farmer who served as Vermont's secretary of state under Governor Philip Hoff. Harry was one of several family members who wrote about the Cooley Farm, a typical dairy farm of its era. Purchased by Harry's parents in 1910, it survived the Great Depression and modernized in the postwar era. Harry's children wrote extensively about farm life in the 1930s. In 2020, Harry's granddaughter, Sara Tucker, began compiling their memoirs into a series of volumes. The complete series will include memoirs by Idora Cooley Tucker, Ruth Godfrey, and other family members.
