A new memoir by Karen Miller looks back on a transformative era

At a time when the sexual revolution and the feminist movement were opening doors for American women, young Karen Moses left her parents' middle-class home in the Bronx and set out to live her own free life, unencumbered by social convention. The opportunities she encountered were as exhilarating as they were perilous. Following an improvised route that led, ultimately, to Vermont and law school, Karen became at turns a college dropout, a teacher, a stay-at-home mom, a panhandler, a farmer, and a factory worker. Her story—wry, gutsy, and often very funny—is a deeply personal account of a pivotal era.

Karen, who is also an artist, tells her story in short chapters interspersed with illustrations and poetry. You can purchase the print edition from her website and the ebook at Lulu.com
